Wader Quest at Bird Fair 2014

We are in Marquee 1 Stand 67 and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible during the three days. please feel free to come and browse our information boards and have a chat about our current projects and plans for the future.

If you have not done so already, take the plunge and join us in our cause to help the world's waders. All sign-ups at the Bird Fair will be entered into a prize draw with a chance to win a pair of Opticron Trailfinder 8x30 binoculars worth £129.00 (RRP).

We will be giving a talk on Friday at 11.30 Lecture Marquee 2; please come and hear about what we have been up to since last year's Bird Fair and see some of Elis' lovely photographs that illustrate the talk.

This year we have an exciting new addition to our items for sale which will be available for the first time at the Bird Fair. Hooded Plover Earrings. They will be for sale at £9.99 and exclusively from the Wader Quest stand.

We will be launching two more Wader Quest Collectables pin badges too, No.5 Magellanic Plover and No.6 Egyptian Plover, once again available exclusively from the Wader Quest stand at a suggested donation of £2.00 each. The first four pins are still also available.

A superb Hooded Plover figure by Peter Cooper will be for sale on the stand with a percentage of the proceeds going to help fund the BirdLife Australia beach nesting bird programme via Wader Quest.

The 2015 Wader Quest Calendar will also be available for the first time on sale for £6.50

There will also be fridge magnets and postcards.

As usual there will be the Wader Quest competition, so start brushing up on your Tringa identification for a chance to win a copy of Facing Extinction (Donald,Collar, Marsden and Pain) - Debbie Pain has kindly donated and signed the book for us.


We will also have our usual Wader Quest raffle; this year the first prize will be a copy of the magnificent BTO Atlas for 2007 - 2011 kindly donated by the BTO.


We also have a limited number of BirdLife Australia beach nesting bird pins remaining (Hooded Plover, Pied Oystercatcher and Fairy Tern), these are available at the recommended donation of £2.00 and all the proceeds will be added to the sum we are collecting for the Hooded Plovers and BirdLife Australia.

We also have some copies of Juha Honkala's south-east Brazil guide available at an incredible £18.00 each! (50% of sales go to Wader Quest thanks to Juha's generosity.)

Annette Cunniffe is over from the USA and will be helping us on the stand. With her she has brought scarves and blankets that she has been busy making to sell, the proceeds of which will be going to Wader Quest; prepare yourself for winter with these cosy hand knitted items.
