Snowy Plovers

Slightly disappointed that we were unable to get any photographs of the Snowy Plover we saw at the Salton Sea, Elis and I set out to look for them along the beach at Border Field State Park right on the Mexican Border.
Keeping an eye on the Mexican border.
We didn't have to go far before we bumped into a small troop of them and got the required photographs.

It was slightly windy and so they were hunkered-down out of the wind with often just the top of their heads showing making them difficult to count, but we had a maximum of 17 birds in a very short stretch of beach, so the total number would have been much higher.

you see, we humans do have our uses after all!
Also on the beach was this lovely Long-billed Curlew.

Also Elis took this interesting shot of a Hudsonian Whimbrel and a Grey Plover both with a tasty morsel in their bills.

    1. Hi Darlene,

We would have liked to have had longer to explore the area, it looked great, I bet it's good at migration time.

We loved California and one of the things that made it so enjoyable for us to visit and bird in were the people. We had a great reception form everyone we met, especially in San Diego, and we can't wait to go back again.
